Summary: Fits perfectly, works well.
Comment: So far, the microwave works beautifully and fits just right on my tiny countertop. Obviously it's a small unit and doesn't have the capacity for large plates or containers. I purchased this particular unit with some 'slight damage' which was miniscule, pretty much brand new. The popcorn function could be extended by about 10 seconds, but at least it doesn't scorch the bag. And it's powerful enough for its small size. Good buy.

Summary: Yes, it is inexpensive, but it is CHEAP too.
Comment: Our microwave that we have had since 1992 finally quit working. It was a compact microwave, single analog timer, heavy and sturdy model that my grandmother bought me for college. It was a good microwave.

But I am married now and needed another compact microwave to replace the failed unit. My wife and I looked online and finally decided on the Sharp R-230KK 800-Watt. I ordered it, it arrived, unpacked it, and set it up.

This thing is light! I could easily pick it up and hold it in the air resting on the open palm of one hand. The sides of the microwave seem so thin. The lightest touch on the metal sides cause it to give in and out. There is a little paper styrofoam "filter" inside that my wife pulled off because it looked like cheap packaging material.

Sitting on the counter, it was impossible to open the door without pushing the thing across the counter. The back of the unit is not flat, it actually has a small middle section that sticks out much farther. This will cause a see-saw effect when you push the open button the the microwave when this middle section is resting on your back wall. There is no handle, so the only way to open the microwave is to push the button on the far right side of the microwave. This "button" is flush with rest of the surface and requires quite a bit of pressure before the mechanism is activated that swings the door open with surprising force. So you end up with one hand trying to brace the left side as you push hard on the button on the right side, all the while the microwave it teetering back and forth against the wall on it's middle pivot.

I won't go into the functionality of this unit. The construction, materials, and quality of this product are just too cheap. I'm sure the digital pad has all the timers, adjustments, and pointless settings that all the rest of microwaves have these days. Seriously, I miss the simple analog knob that I just twisted to the amount of time I wanted something to heat.

Needless to say, we sent this unit back to amazon (which I would like to say that amazon is the best online retailer I have ever dealt with as far as customer service is concerned!). We ended up purchasing a much better microwave, better quality, better power, better aesthetics, etc. and we have been perfectly happy with it for over a month now. This unit is the Emerson 0.9 cu. Ft. 900-watt Microwave Oven - Stainless Steel. Buy that one with confidence, or at least shop around for a better quality unit than this Sharp.

Summary: Good for the price
Comment: I have usually owned Sharp microwaves and have always been pleased with them. This particular model is good although it falls short of a few options that the other Sharp's that I have owned had. But that's okay as I don't cook with this - I simply use it for reheating food and beverages. It is good for the price I paid. BTW, I ordered it on a Sunday and it came on Monday late afternoon. The shipping time involved was superb! (And I ordered it normal delivery)

Summary: ONE THING LEADS TO ANOTHER
Comment: Chose this one specifically to fit on shelf above sink. But FIRST had to mount it on piece of 2x4 because when I installed new sink faucet the open microwave door hit it. THEN had to paint the edges of 2x4 black to blend in. NEXT had to make grooves for the microwave feet to "lock on" the 2x4. FINALLY had to put a small piece of non-skid material (had to cut it out from under my new carpet) so that the 2x4 stopped slipping every time I opened the microwave door. Because the buttons are difficult not only to locate but see, I had to install a spotlight on my ceiling. This helps greatly but of course it highlighted the dingy area behind the stove. So we had to make a decorative backsplash.[[ASIN:B000Y117SO FAT PASTRY CHEF 3 Hat Framed Art Kitchen Print Picture] We bought 4 of these cute plaques & mounted them on a decorative board painted Sunbeam Yellow & framed with 2" moulding painted Cranberry Zing red. It looks spectacular. I am now using our new microwave & love it. It seems more efficient (power vs price) than any other I've had over the last 35 years. You can't go wrong with this product. Shipping free. Buy with a credit card that gives you extra warranty & greater piece of mind.

Summary: Bad Durability
Comment: We bought this microwave oven around 3 years ago and
were in general happy with it, except for the hard-
to-read, antiquated design of the clock/timer display.

However, recently most of the number keys on the touchpad
quit working when punched. Now we have to input a time
using the few keys that still operate, use some math to
figure out what the display will read when it has heated up
long enough, and then watch it like a hawk while it cooks.

There seem to be a lot of good reviews on this oven, and I
guess we just got a dud, because a microwave wave should
last a lot longer than this. But we're going to have to
replace ours when we can, and next time it's not going
to be a Sharp.

Useful information:

Is the top or bottom element going to perform the self-cleaning cycle? Some ovens only use the top element and others only use the bottom one. Better designed ovens use the bottom element. The reason for this is that most grease spills and splatters (soil) will accumulate on the sides and the floor of the cavity - not on the ceiling (where the broiler is located) and therefore, the element that is the closest to these soiled areas should be the one to work the strongest in order to bake off the soil.
