Summary: The WORST toaster oven I've ever had
Comment: I use this to make toast and heat up frozen waffles 95% of the time. I set the timer to less than 5 minutes and the side facing up and closer to the back of the oven will inevitably burn. I have even set it for less time, but then of course, it doesn't toast. It seems to do the actual toasting in a 5 second window, so if you're not vigilant enough to catch, will result in burnt toast. Not only that, the underside will not brown at all. So I stick the bread in for 3-4 minutes, it dings, the bread is still white, I flip it over, set it for another 1-2 minutes, it dings, and sometimes it's toasted ok (the part towards the back of the toaster is darker, of course) and sometimes it's burnt. And like another reviewer, the door now hangs open a few inches and refuses to close. This toaster oven is JUNK!

Summary: Great toaster oven; easy to use; versatile; works great; looks great;
Comment: I totally agree with Doug Hess' comment that some folks have unrealistic expections for a... hello ... "toaster" oven. And, I too also bought it for $50 at a warehouse club.

Then again, I wouldn't want to pay much more than that even to get the mother-of-all-perfect-toaster-ovens. It's the best looking and working oven for the price.

My 2 cents ... read the fine (easy-to-read-with-plenty-of-nice-pictures) manual, admire the pretty stainless steel design, and enjoy great warm batches of chocolate chip cookies, croissants, toast, etc. in about 10 minutes; baked meals without having to fire up a gigantic traditional oven; ability to reheat or keep food warm, etc.

I use it almost daily from toasting english muffins, bagels, bread, etc. It's so easy to use ... turn the top knob to "toast", the middle temperature knob to "toast", and the timer knob to ....... ummmm ... "toast!" Well actually you need to turn the timer knob past the 20 minute mark and then back to "toast" which is about at the 10 minute mark. This is so the timer bell will go off. It's like winding up an old alarm clock.

For baking, turn the top know to "bake" ... well you get the picture.

And, don't rely on any toaster oven timer to be accurate for cooking foods under 20 minutes. Get a cheap digital timer or check your watch. It isn't a big deal for toast or baking cookies and for you to stay near the oven for about 10 minutes while brewing coffee or doing something else in the kitchen.

The Oster works great for baking poppin fresh you-name it: cookies, biscuits, croissants, etcs. You do need to rotate the pan once in the middle of baking (@5 minute mark) to avoid uneven browning. If you actually burn things, reduce your your baking time and adjust the rack height. Remember this is a convection toaster oven. In a large traditional oven, food is simply farther away from the heating element and convection fan. In the Oster, you get hot spots but can still avoid uneven browning of baked goods like biscuits. This not really a problem for baking chicken, fish, casseroles, etc.

It's great for broiling/baking fish and chicken (no household oven does a good job of broiling steak in my opinion ... save it for the bbq or grill).

If things are too "dry" ... try marinating more or wrapping your dish partially in tin foil to keep in some moisture, reduce cooking time, etc.

I've used a traditional oven maybe all of 5 times in my entire life. The Oster meets all of my needs and then some.

Summary: great toaster oven
Comment: I mainly use toaster ovens for toast and reheating leftovers/pizza. I'm not a gourmet so this oven suits my lifestyle just fine.

Its a convection bake mode so you will not have to turn the heat up so high or cook your meal as long as you normally would as in older toaster ovens without convection (hence the dried out ribs of the previous reviewer).

I love the style of it as well. My old oven was white and would turn brown at the edges with constant use. This stainless steel/gray model works with my kitchen style.

I can't wait to use the other features.

Summary: Sleek, stylish and toasts bread too!
Comment: I have been looking for a replacement toaster oven for some time. The majority seem either monstrously large (I really dont want another oven) or super small. So when I spotted the Oster I was attracted to it's nice mid sized capacity. It's large enough to toast 6 slices, hold an average size frozen pizza and cook a roast but it's small enough to fit in a lot of spaces also. Though it does have side handles for ease in moving it, they do not jut out far as they do on other models.

The Oster is a very sleek looking machine. Stainless steel it has a rich look to it that makes other toaster ovens look cheap and plasticky. Very smooth and appealing.

The Oster also boasts some super nice features not seen on other models. There is a crumb tray that is at the bottom of the machine. It completely sides out by simply pulling the handle. With most machines the tray (if there is one) is INSIDE the machine and awkward to remove and clean. This tray is so easy to remove, clean up is a snap. No more toasted cheese drippings splayed all over the interior.

Another super nice feature is the way the food tray slides towards you when you open the door. No more reaching inside to pull out toast or your entree.

There are a couple drawbacks. With most machines you can simply press toast or dial bake and you are good to go. The Oster takes a bit more getting used to and to make toast I actually had to read the instruction booklet. To make toast you must first put control knob 1 in toast position. Then put control knob 2 at the heat setting for toast and finally dial the timer on control knob 3.

In order to use the machine you must dial the timer. For it to "ding" when your food is ready you must dial past the 15 minute mark. I am not sure why they made the machine this way. Also the markings for light and dark toast are small and hard to see. The other issue is that the timer makes a clicking noise as it counts down..like an egg timer..so it takes some getting used to. It is not noisy, I am just not used to hearing a toaster oven. If you are baking something for 60 minutes you will hear it clicking down the entire time. Kind of a soothing click, and eventually you are likely not to notice it, as I have found that to be the case. It was just odd at first getting used to it.

All in all I think the oven has some exceptionally nice features. It bakes, toasts and broils well and looks gorgeous (if a toaster oven can look gorgeous)and sleek on my countertop.

Very happy with this reasonably priced choice.

Summary: Great little toaster oven
Comment: In doing research on toaster ovens I've come to the conclusion that people have unrealistic expectations of toaster ovens. They're toaster ovens, people, not full-sized ovens.

If what you expect of a toaster oven is to bake small items, make the occasional slice of toast, and reheat leftovers without turning them into steaming goop like a microwave does, then you're looking in the right place.

I'm not at all convinced that the "convection" feature does all that much, but I can say that so far I have baked cookies, reheated pizza, and cooked Tyson Chicken Patties and tater tots with excellent results. Oh yeah, and I've even made toast. Best $50 (bought elsewhere) I've spent in a long time.

Don't want to heat up your big ol' oven and your house to reheat some leftovers? Get this toaster oven.
