Summary: Wonderful Investment!
Comment: This was my first time to use the roaster oven for a turkey. The turkey was almost fifteen pounds. I rubbed the skin with canola and salted with kosher salt. I put cut apples, onions, a half stick of salted butter and two cinnamon sticks into the turkey's cavity. Then I placed the turkey in the rack UPSIDE DOWN-breast on the bottom. This keeps the breast meat wonderfully moist. 3 /2 hours later, I had the best turkey I had ever tasted! The kitchen was cool and my gas oven was used to brown rolls and a casserole. It was an easy way of doing a turkey with no brining and even the most discriminating turkey lovers in the family were raving!

Summary: Couldn't be happier
Comment: I purchased this roaster with the intention of using it for Thansgiving, as we usually do 2 turkeys, and oven space is so limited. Both the oven turkey and the roaster turkey were done at the same time. Once they were plated, we couldn't tell them apart. Both were done to perfection, browned outside, tender & juicy inside. My daughter is not easily impressed, but she really liked the results. Now she wants one too. But she's not getting mine.

I highly recommend this roaster. One warning, though. The outside gets really hot, so be sure it is used in a safe place where no one will get burned.

Summary: Great addition to "tools" used in food preparation
Comment: I purchased this item because I have a relatively small wall oven. My normal roasting pan barely fits inside the oven and then, of course, nothing else will fit until the turkey is done. I was surprised to find, or not find, a product like this in my local stores, so was quite pleased to discover it on Amazon. Turkey turned out excellent today, and I am looking forward to other uses already. Perhaps I can finally cook a beef roast that will come out not seeming to be boiled, fried, or fossilized! The only downside is the storage issue. If you have little space you will need to be creative w/regard to how & where to stash the box until the next time you want to use it. I love it and am very pleased w/my purchase!

Summary: Steaming is essentially how this works....
Comment: Purchased the roaster to cook a turkey at Thanksgiving to free up oven space. Baking off the chemical smell for 1 hour or so according to manufacturer's direction prior to using is necessary This unpleasant odor will be gone forever. Know that cooking anything in a roaster is essentially steaming your food therefore not the preferred way to roast anything. However,if you use a meat thermometer and cook until the turkey breast reads 155*, then REMOVE your turkey, loosely cover with foil watching the internal temperature rise to 165* it will come out fine. Gravy always helps! Though it is possible to overcook in an oven, too, it is very easy to do in the electric roaster. On the website www.ochef.com will give you some specific instructions about self-basting turkeys or not. They recommend smaller turkey's if it is a self-basting one, and watch the temperature as the self-basting turkeys have more moisture to steam a bit faster. All in all I am glad I purchased the unit as I needed some space to prepare an entire meal. I look forward to using other items in the roaster. One thing, though it does become hot enough on the outside surface to burn when touched, surprisingly it does not heat up the kitchen like an oven.... that is a plus now that I live in a southern climate and it can be 80* on Thanksgiving. My favorite way to cook a Thanksgiving turkey? Deep fried, of course. This year is was too cool to fry the turkey to keep the 3 gallons of oil at a high enough temperature to not have the oil absorbed so we opted for the roaster. Enjoy experimenting with this product! btw, shop around, I found the prices all over the place esp. around the holidays.

Summary: A necessary appliance
Comment: I couldn't do without this product especially on holidays. Very few people have enough ovens to handle all the roasting, baking and heating that goes on at that time. I cooked a large prime rib in mine at Christmas and a large turkey at Thanksgiving and it was a life saver. At other times I've put in pies to bake or casseroles to bake while my regular oven was available for other things.

Useful information: How should I decorate my kitchen?

Make sure that all wood mouldings such as doors, architraves and skirting boards are adequately painted before decorating. Ceilings too should be completed. Protect cabinets, appliances and floor coverings from paint or paste drips. You may want to unscrew wall cupboard mounted cornice to facilitate decoration. Don't put too much paste on your paper as it can become very soggy and tear rather than cut. Let the paste soak in for the recommended time and use top quality scissors and a craft knife with a ready supply of new blades for a sharp cut. Borders hide ragged edges at the ceiling. You will be so proud of your work when you have finished.
